Nostr is interesting but there is less hassle with Mastodon, which is also kind of anarchist and contrarian. It's always a bit funny when people who are into very niche things disagree about which niche is the right one and get into arguments.

How so? I've never actually tried mastodon so no idea. But felt nostr was p hassle free, sign up at least, don't even have to have an email/email confirmation or nothing ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯. The rest is confusing, but I felt like I could sort of wing it lol

nostr:npub1njst6azswskk5gp3ns8r6nr8nj0qg65acu8gaa2u9yz7yszjxs9s6k7fqx I had to do a lot of tuning with the relays to reduce spam and get engagement. None of that with Mastodon, yet still very independent compared to mainstream social media.

I seee. Maybe I've accidentally got spam filtering relays, I have had to block spam accounts in the past for not for a long ol' while. Are you interested in bluesky? I think a certain part of me wants to stick on nostr cos it always feels on the brink of failure, and curiosity what someone will build next (maybe that also happens on mastodon and increasingly on bluesky?)
