It's not a lie though. Climate change may be a big fashion nowadays, but the fall of the Roman Empire coincided with a long-term change of climate in the Mediterranean region that caused repeated harvest failures and oft occurring famine and a noticeable decline in population and thus weakened the empire and its economy significantly, contributing to its inability to defend itself. #history
This is true but misleading. The cooling at the end of the classical warm period caused more frequent crop failure and the resulting malnutrition is thought to have contributed to the severity of the 3rd century plagues. The climate change at that time was not anthropogenic.
I would think this would undermine the narrative.
Unless they think all the roman plebs were driving pick-up trucks? I guess I could read the article to find out their reasoning but there are about a thousand things I'd rather do with my time...
