apart from wbtc & btcb, both of which are custodian, there used to exist renBTC, but Sam Bankman mess thr project up
now there li liquid btc, which i think is really cool. but adoption is extremely low

lightning is good, but it is not suitable for long term storage.
nomicbtc is a new L2 but the whole gateway fee is dumb
