I wouldn't be asking permission at all, ever, to open a single painted shut window. Rental or not, it's unacceptable and wholly against all codes.

I'd sue, but only after offering them one chance to resolve every window, soup to nuts.

I totally agree. I'm way too non-confrontational sometimes. Apparently some landlords screw the windows shut while a property is vacant to discourage break ins and squatters. Bad druggie area. We just never worried about it because well, central air. I didn't realize until today how dangerous it is. Bad dad. I thought of every safety issue but that. It's insane. I guess maybe I figured if there's a fire I'm throwing some shit through that window. But yeah, all of them open now. Some were simply painted shut and I had to run a blade along the seams. I learned from it. It definitely broke three specific rental codes for our town. We have a portable a/c for the night and the sun is going down. The repair guy didn't make it over today. Hopefully tomorrow. Our heat index was 112 today and we had a warning. Tomorrow is the last hot day and then the rest of the week a high around 75-80. We got this! 😰

Good on ya Peter, sounds like the major addressable issue is resolved. What a saga, haha!

Not Bad Dad, rather Handle Dad.
