Boost, which I believe has fallen out of favor now, is a great example of why a lot of people think libraries are the antichrist. You include boost::string and suddenly your empty CPP file takes 40 seconds to compile because it dragged in 20 million lines of code behind it.
On the other hand there's a lot of fantastic "overhead free" libraries that follow the Unix philosophy. His attitude of "all libraries bad" is a really good way to bankrupt yourself in the year of our lord 2023.
