To have a child is to go into significant financial, emotional, physical energy, and time debt. As parents, to do right by them, by the act of bringing them into the world, we promise to give them these necessary elements for their thriving.

The debt is extraordinary; it is hard.

But the payoff far outweighs the cost, and nothing worth doing is easy.
