I'd say like the longbowman, changed the way battles were fought, negated the superiority of armoured opponents with cheap, long distance weapons.

Ask the Crusaders if longbows made a difference

Which crusade? Some failed, some did not. The Saracens did not fight like the French or other European armies, they were not slow moving, easy targets.
