That makes me think escape from LA and NY. But those were pretty wet worlds of I remember. So they might live with the Gorillaz in the pre Waterworld.

Before the fall off society at the end of the original mad Max it was still a city with regular government and society.

What if tremors lives in that pre mad Max desert world?

Beetlejuice is in the here and now but when they escape the confines of the house they end up somewhere outside time where it's desert with worms right? So like what if it's the future?

Oh oh then that initially screams dune. Like what if arrakis from dune is just mad Max earth millennia in the future.

But you could literally do the opposite and say Caladan is Waterworld earth millennia in the future. 🤷🏽
