The common complaint I see on Nostr is that we only talk about #bitcoin. I disagree. You can type into search just about any subject and find people talking about it, a hashtag dedicated to it, or even a group you can join within the Nostr community.

#Nostr doesn't spoon feed you propaganda, and it doesn't listen in on your conversations to populate currated ad content. If you want something, you go find it. If it doesn't exist, why not start it.

Good afternoon plebs.

Safe to say that the Bitcoin community is the biggest community on nostr, though?

Absolutely, and it doesn't even have a marketing team behind it ๐Ÿค™

Right - I just think that's the part that might be a little intimidating. There's nothing wrong with it -- is what it is.

i think everything on nostr is 'within' the context that we all believe in bitcoin, even over the decentralization properties. It's from this worldview that we find unity. Not to say it's the most important aspect of our lives, speaking as first and foremost a Christian, but it is the relay, if you will, that connects us all. If someone comes to nostr expecting to only connect on a different relay, they will be disappointed.

So from your perspective, nostr is fundamentally a Bitcoin community?

from my limited perspective yeah

I came to Nostr out of curiosity. A video I watched mentioned there was a lot of talk about #bitcoin. I didn't have any but came anyway. I have found many users posting about other things. I am a #pickleball fan (hence my handle) and haven't found much in the way of pickleball postings but I think eventually that will change. Anyway, I have enjoyed my brief time on Nostr and plan to stick with it.

nostr:npub17nvfw7g53nxjghyd2zg552z06cke0jc0k69hj7ns7f9pw26j9kusap4u85 likes pickleball. I don't know what client you use but #amethyst lets you search keywords and I was able to find a bunch of yall lol. I've never played but as much as you guys evangelize it, i might have to try it ๐Ÿ˜…

Thanks for the info. I will follow you both. So far I have just been using web clients. I am an android user so may have to give #amethyst a try. Yes, give #pickleball a try. I have found it to be a welcoming community with lots of people willing to help newcomers. Kind of like #Nostr.

I think a lot of clients used to offer a limited set of initial users to follow or auto followed some accounts. Thatโ€™s why the content seemed to be very bitcoin/nostr focused. Glad to hear that this has improved.

I can see where that would be helpful for some new users. You could always unfollow if you didn't like their content. I figure if someone takes the time to react to something I have posted then why not follow them.

Tennis Maxi.

I do like to help the elderly to the pickleball courts though. Itโ€™s usually my good deed for the week.

Then I start banging some 100mph serves a few courts down.

Nice. I'm over 65 so I might be considered as someone you would help. We have a gentleman who is 83 and plays a few times per week. Where I play indoors it is open to #pickleball 8 a.m. to noon so most of us are retired but we have a few younger people who join us often. We enjoy the game and each others company.

Welcome Bob.

Thanks nostr:npub17nvfw7g53nxjghyd2zg552z06cke0jc0k69hj7ns7f9pw26j9kusap4u85 , now Iโ€™m the asshole again.

This is why we love you Mcd ๐Ÿ˜

Like volleyball, that was a perfect bump/set for the spike.

This is the way! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Iโ€™ve played a few times, my friend has a couple of courts. I used to play a lot of tennis back in the day but pickleball is a much friendlier game.

I appreciate the smaller court. I stick to playing doubles as my legs wouldn't last very long even on a smaller court.

Let's go fellow pickleballer! Followed

#Pickleball is life!

Oh no I wish I had the approval and validation of people who can't understand and don't want to hear about Bitcoin
