Oh, they like them. They like having a housekeeper and a cook, and it's nice having someone to talk to and go for a walk with, although I guess they could just replace them with a dog, or something.
They just can't be bothered to do any of the stuff men do with wives, specifically.
As far as I can tell, the women either leave or get a boyfriend, and the men are like, meh, whatever, bye, I'll be golfing.
