Dasius, a Roman soldier, was serving in Durostorum (modern Silistra, Bulgaria) when the annual festival of Cronus arrived. Chosen by lot to be the star of the festival, he was expected to participate in debauchery and then be sacrificed to the pagan god.

Instead, Dasius openly declared himself a Christian and refused to partake in the sacrilege. He used his platform to preach about Christ. For this act of defiance, he was beheaded on November 20, 304 AD.
