I went to a clinic for a medical checkup. My aunt works there, and she helped me through the process.
She asked:
– What problems do you have, Roman?
– It's complicated...
– What is complicated? Tell me. I've seen everything; I've been working here for 30 years.
– I'm not an ordinary person... I don't think your experience applies to me.
– What is so unusual about you? Why do you think you're not ordinary, Roman? (She got angry.)
– It's hard to explain... But I don't seek comfort. In fact, I feel disgusted when I'm comfortable. I always choose the harder option and give everything my maximum effort. I have no fears. I only think about progress and how to make the world a better place. And I'm stressed and worried most of the time. I put myself through intense pain often, exhausting my body to the point where I can't walk.
– Roman, that's normal! Everyone's life is hard. Everyone struggles. Everyone is exhausted. So, nothing special.
Then we went to see a few doctors.
Otorhinolaryngologist
– What's the problem?
– When I get excited or talk, my nose swells, and it becomes hard to breathe.
– Let's see... (Looks into nostrils.) Your nasal septum is bent. You'll need surgery.
– But I usually breathe fine. It's only when I talk a lot that this happens.
– Take these anti-allergy pills first. If that doesn't work, you'll need surgery.
But it only happens when blood rushes to my head — when I get excited or talk a lot. Allergy? Septum? 🤷🏻♂️
Neurologist
– What's the problem?
– My brain shuts down after heavy loads and stress... I can't think after that. It comes back after I sleep.
– Do you have any fears?
– No. I don't fear anything... not even death.
– Maybe you're worried?
– Yes, I'm worried that I'm not doing enough and that I won't accomplish what I've planned in the time I have.
– Ok. Try drinking this anxiolytic, and the worries will go away. Also, minimize stress. Life should be enjoyed — relax.
– What if I don't want the worry to go away? What if it's what drives me toward my purpose?
– Believe me... Take this medicine, and you'll feel much better.
We finished visiting the doctors, and my aunt said: You see, it wasn't that bad. Your problems aren't dangerous. Just take the medication, and you'll feel better.
Everything went exactly as usual... and my situation remains unsolved.
It's important to understand: our society is set up in an efficient way, where everything is handled with average solutions for ordinary people. No one has the time to analyze your individual, specific case and figure out what will truly fix your problem. They just numb your symptoms.
Also, ordinary people hate to think that anyone is special. Whatever you think, do, plan, or say, if you're not ordinary, it will be met with anger and resentment. If you accept that you're ordinary, your life will quickly spiral into mediocrity.
You decide who you are. Never let anything else determine that for you. Striving for excellence, becoming the best version of yourself, and making the world a better place is... admirable... and extraordinary.
Keep your fire burning! 🔥🔥🔥
