All that easy money led to broken incentives. Accountants would pretend to be IT to make more money
The “fake it until you make it” and “imposter syndrome” really solidified this. Also the million incentives to try to attract chicks that have no interest in it
I used to be amazed working with developers who had no idea how to connect computers peripherals
I read that intro CS students don’t even know that file explorers are now and all they use are iPads lol

Most sales people can't even use the tech that they sell, much less explain how it works (even at a high level).
