German politics is mostly like a horror high school, where the popular people spend all day determining who can sit at their table for lunch and which rules determine this, and try to have everyone else arrested.

That this is incredibly totalitarian behavior, just flies right past their comprehension because they see themselves as the Gutmenschen.
