Yeah totally agree. It would have to be something disastrous that Elon did to piss of twitter, especially the types of subcommunities there who used to get their accounts banned and nuked under the old regime.

But I don't see Elon doing anything that disastrous, I think he knows.

That's fine with me. We can relish the "good old days" of nostr for a little while longer.

I saw Fenix Ammunition had an issue with Twitter the other day. I was hoping that would be a bigger thing and we could get the gun and 3d printing communities on here.

In my mind, nostr's path was growing from bitcoin, to all cryptocurrency communities, to libertarians as a whole, to the right as a whole, and finally to some normies. Might have to rethink that progression.

I will say its funny, theres a chunk of bitcoin twitter that doesn't like nostr, and there are some that use both, that don't post all their content here, like non-bitcoin stuff. Blows my mind. That's the stuff I want them to post.

Nostr hasn't afaik attracted any significant RW accounts or attention. The censorship of twitter is 'good enough', the audience / footfall is vaster, the topics are broader. They also tend not to like libertarians all that much.

Bitcointwitter big posters pop in here to drop off their latest slop they've been churning for years(100k, leg up, laser eyes etc etc) and treat it as just a small bitcoin forum, which tbf it kinda is.

I don't see anyone trading the potential reach and audience sizes of twitter, which currently has low levels of censorship, for less censorship but little no/reach. Especially when that reach is limited to 'people who like to talk about the price of bitcoin but have left bitcointwitter'.

But yes, would take something Elon decides to do, which I can't see him doing, and besides they would return as soon as he rolled back that decision

My thinking was always, if you had the libertarians, you'd get hoppeans, and then its off to the races for the right. Who knows with the right, Gab has done some weird shit this year, I'm wondering if they are on shaky grounds. There might be some potential there.

I will say, while Twitter isn't the ban happy playground it used to be, there are some areas where its worse. I do find the quality of my feed has gone down. It does everything in its power to put blue checks in your face. Basically if you aren't paying for Twitter you're experience isn't all that enjoyable. If Elon keeps squeezing for money that may be a enough to push some people out.

I dunno, I'm still hopeful that nostr will break out of its bitcoin bubble but thats going to be a while.

Yeah, reddit had more smart users who would migrate to decentralization than X, but this janky half-decentralized version of X that kinda works was way easier to make than any decentralized version of reddit that works at all
