So often the good news that is the Gospel gets flattened into a cosmic courtroom drama. Heaven and hell as opposing teams vying for your soul. All while God sits as a distant judge of your choices
Salvation reduced to a legal loophole, Jesus to a sacrificial goat to appease God
However eternal life isn't a prize we get for accumulating the right theological data. It is the very act and experience of inhabiting the presence of God, and allowing God to inhabit us. It’s to realize that the divine reality isn't just "out there," but is the very ground of our own being.
John 17:3 reveals this:
“Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.”
Thus what’s being promised, is not that we will one day escape time. And rather that that it is possible that one can be so fully present to God, in this moment that the moment itself becomes a gateway into the Timeless One.
The invitation is to awaken to the eternal reality that is already holding us, right here, right now.
