Yup. The only other very minor drawback is the relatively "high" spend fee of 0.4%. But the convenience and BTC address splice-in feature is incredible, so you can spend and receive through on-chain as well as LN.

Its the way but only worth for some decently substantial amounts, as a channel transaction on chain must be paid as you said. For toe-dippers (minimal sats), just run them on custodial like Coinos, Strike/FoldApp and ecash (which I'm still learning)
