The last time I experienced the grid going down for an extended period of time there was no way to spend with debit and credit cards either. Nobody accepts or spends gold as a currency, and cash and coin has been under assault for years.
That's what I tell them, the grid goes down you fucked more ways than getting to your btc. Heck they use btc in Africa where the grid goes down constantly. The grid goes down where your bank is there is no way to get to it. Wit btc, you could do it with a cell signal, because it doesn't rely on one point.
In my experience one on one conversation, when it naturally comes up. Show them how it works, make a transaction with them. I make it known I’m interested in BTC and have had calls asking about it months/years later from friends/ coworkers, We are prob heading in to another one of those times in the next year.

It's worth mentioning that when the grid goes down most dollar transactions also go down. Most people have less than $100 cash on hand at any given time.
Also blockstream is working on grid down solutions including broadcasting the entire blockchain and transactions over satellite.
I keep at least $300 on me at all times... Fucking people will never learn.
