As a programmer, I hate timezones. As a human, I appreciate the standard.
Daylight Savings, tho. GFY.
Daylight savings is extra bad. Just stay +1 forever.
I would rather prefer winter time to permanent DST. It's more convenient to have things an hour later, and it matches with my internal clock better.
I'm actually speaking from experience here — my country experimented with this a lot, and we eventually settled on permanent winter time.
I’ve lived in many different time zones. Some places I wanted permanent Winter time and others permanent DST. It all comes down to your longitude within the time zone. Back to the arbitrary lines that started this convo.
As someone who grew up without daylight savings time, I concur. But why not also ban national borders?
