The angel Gabriel appeared to Mary, a virgin betrothed to Joseph, announcing she would conceive and bear a son, #Jesus, to be called the Son of the Most High. Though perplexed, Mary humbly accepted God's will, declaring herself the Lord's servant. She visited her cousin Elizabeth, who was also pregnant, and Elizabeth recognized Mary as the mother of her Lord. Mary's faith and obedience made her instrumental in God's plan for salvation.
