Von Neumann is apparently a big dick although I haven't seen him swinging.

Probably start learning about "Finite and Infinite games" to get your intuition going. Specifically from James Carse but there are other sources/podcasts that build off. Its a nice framework to get into, and can help orient your attitude to different problems.

Game Theory proper focuses mostly on finite games, and its mathematical representation. Its interesting and a lot to get into, but I think you'll have a better start with the other framing.
