I meant how do I get a machine on Linux lol

Choose a distribution. Download the installer. Sd card or usb key is pretty easy. Boot from the removable storage. Install.

A distribution is like a flavour of Linux. Choose something easy like Ubuntu (chocolate flavour)

Will this necessarily wipe my windows? If it doesn’t I think I might need a bigger SSD

If you install on same partition yes.

Definitely have a backup of your windows setup before installing anything
