Altruism is a deception. Everything we do, we do because we believe we will be better off for having done it.

A lot of people are trying to alleviate feelings of guilt from having achieved success at the expense of others. A lot of people also just like the feeling of helping others, of doing "good" in the world.

Neither of these reasons are bad but I think positioning your action as being for the benefit of others is deceptive & counter productive.

The notion that we humans need to put others needs above our own has ironically caused so much suffering.

You are not responsible for my joy or my pain. It would be much easier to achieve progress in our civilization if we just cleaned up our own mess & solved our own problems.

Well said that man

There is a type of altruism that obeys this law of self interest.

It's when you expand your awareness of who you are. You embody that feeling of oneness with the all that is.

People may look at your actions & think that they're driven by some altruistic intention. You're really just acknowledging that you're a part of it all. You still have to respect the individual's journey, their beliefs & preferences but it's no longer you against the world.

It feels so very different.
