They said personal computers were toys.

They said the internet was a fad.

They said Bitcoin would never be worth anything.

They were wrong every single time.

What are they saying about Nostr?

Nothing. You have nostr confused with things they wanted to give free publicity to

Fair point. All of those grew. Nostr will grow.

Decentralization isn’t a feature. It’s the future. It’s the only architecture that survives when institutions become adversaries. They ignored personal computers until IBM couldn’t kill them. They ignored the internet until AOL couldn’t own it. They ignored Bitcoin until banks couldn’t stop it.

They’re ignoring Nostr now. Same pattern. Same outcome.

“It’s only for hardcore Bitcoin maxis.”

“It’ll never be relevant compared to [insert platform here]”

Or my favorite:

“Is that a blockchain thing? I’m really into blockchain things.”

They havent heard of it. You need to wait 10 more years to hear that opinion. 🤣

They say "just ignore it"

Haha. 🤣 Yep. That’s definitely worked out great historically. Just ask Blockbuster about ignoring Netflix. Ask Nokia about ignoring the iPhone. Ask every central bank that ignored Bitcoin.

One of the major complaints I see is similar to complaints over the Fediverse: that it's an echo chamber. Unfortunately, I'd have to agree to some extent. It's hard to find content variety here. Unless you're hardcore into Bitcoin and libertarian philosophies, you're going to struggle to find people to interact with. I respect Bitcoin (and would love to get into it, if I could) and I have a few libertarian beliefs, but even I end up finding more conflict than I'd like.

If we want Nostr to succeed, we need more people posting with a lot more variety.

You’re not wrong. It always starts with one. Be the one.

I do post things I'm interested in, but it definitely takes more than one man doing that haha. I agree with your take on the #GrowNostr tag, though!

Some notes get zero engagement. It’s ok, we all have notes here that don’t get very far. Move on. And continue however you like. There’s more beauty in this than we realize.
