If you listen to Elon's pitches to investors this shouldn't come as any surprise. He wants Twitter to become an identity provider through becoming a payment provider. Twitter is silo, who cares. Things like Nostr are the future.

As for the $100 for API usage. I get that. Kill the spammers and get paid for using Twitter to manipulate opinion. He's also trying to stop the bleeding of money. He's building something different from the old Twitter. Something I'm not interested in. I mean, I haven't been interested in Twitter for about 7 years but who's counting.
