Closest to this would be buying a movie, game or game system which contains a license for usage and reselling that but in terms of standalone digital images, theres no real purpose.

If someone wants an image they can right, click,save, or extract from data files. If they want a license for use, thats different and most NFTs dont convey ownership of the referenced material. And if they did theres no property ownership enforcement mechanism. If people want a transferrable key for access, theres no need to tie an image apart from categorization, and such key works with or without it.

Need to have the storage for the jpeg too. But this is a non issue with super computers on your pocket adays. Storage is dirt cheap.
