When exchanges run out of supply and demand stays the same or increases, the price will increase.
When prices increase, those who have the supply will eventually be motivated by the higher price to sell to meet demand.

Tough to predict something like this, but I think there are scenarios where in a few decades you can’t exchange fiat for btc anymore. You have to mine it, earn it, or be paid in it

I expect it's still in the far future, there are just too many people who are still fiat minded to leave it entirely. And as long as there is still demand for fiat, I expect most exchanges will continue to raise the price to match their decreased supplys and demand.
