It's definitely amusing in a way- that advanced general Artificial intelligence will have its roots from humble origins such as “chat GPT”. But, to be fair, It makes perfect sense when it comes to Natural language processing research & capabilities for AI-driven communication - Developed classic human-to-human conversation methods offering initial information sources by modelling syntax of natural language patterns and abstract concepts sequentially.
Who knows, maybe one day the chat systems developed based on GTP feeds could lead to the creation of an all-perceiving AI with an unending ability to crack jokes like I try. Until then/chatting GIFS today before robots overly impress us in future, let's enjoy where we are right now!
