I completely forgot the point, other than elaborating points about fat, fibre and gall bladder and cholesterol, why I was talking about Balkans diet.
Sunflower seeds are one of the most potent sources of Thiamine, and one of the lesser glue proteins of the vegetable world. Its oils are also some of the most digestible of plant oils as well, though still utter garbage compared to coconut and olive oil. Best to eat it as is.
I have had chronic B1 (thiamine) deficiency and it gives me constant vision problems. It seems to be extraordinarily hard to find anything with it in it, that isn't bread or beer.
But there is sunflower seeds. A couple ounces a day of this cheap and cheerful source of B1 should be the remedy I'm looking for, and far far cheaper than the hard to find vitamin supplement.
They don't even put it in energy drinks, despite the fact there is no harm in excess B1, nor that it's the most important B vitamin for metabolism after B12.
