I wouldn't delete it. That allows someone to set up a new account that squats your username, and pose as you.
I'd just change your bio to say "Gone to Croatan", and leave luggage tags pointing to where you can now be found (email, ,npub, XMPP, Matrix, fediverse, etc). That way you can passively red pill people out of there ; )
