If the node is in the phone who's copy of the blockchain is it using? Or is it its own pruned node or something?

"The (lightning) node is on your phone"

How does it validate channels if it doesn't have it's own copy of the blockchain? It must access a copy of it somewhere

Played around for like 2 mins. Looks like they use neutrino, which is SPV but privacy preserving.

Lightning node, not Bitcoin core.

LND supports Neutrino.

In this case, the LND software is running on phone and stores channel and wallet data. For Zeus, its connecting to Olympus btc core node.

It’s actually four btcd nodes, you have the option to specify more and also do peer discovery

Thanks for explaining. So ultimately a privacy tradeoff Vs running your own full node, which is understandable. I love Zeus fwiw. 🧡

No. You also get great privacy with this! Look up BIP-157 and Neutrino for the nitty gritty. It’s brilliant.
