If we get rid of "free" healthcare, people are going to stop doing insane elective surgeries just to follow a trend or be important to their friend group for a little while.

Hmm I wonder. The wealthy will pay out of pocket to do it to their children/themselves, and then it will have that status of "rich people things" attached to it as well. There's also a lot of people who beg online for surgery money.
