Hawaii actually had its sovereign government overthrown in large part by businesses like Dole, who didn't want to pay tariffs on bananas and pineapples. They are currently doing exactly that right now and are not being hit with these current tariffs.
Not to mention they're called greenhouses. We have the technology.

I think everyone who thinks about tariffs for a couple minutes realizes that certain products will need to be exempt, there will be a transition period, and there will be at least short term cost increases. No need to debate the tariff strategy that is already being implemented. It is too late for that. Itβs time for acceptance and adjust to the new world. Time will let us know whether this was a good decision or not.
