A lot of people seem to think they'll be using lightning when on-chain fees are crazy high.

I hope you like custodial lightning cause you ain't running a node if you can't pay the chain fees.

Nah ecash sits on top of lightning so it doesn't address this problem.

Lightning scales bitcoin payments in a trustless way. Ecash scales them even better in a trusted way. But neither solution lets you self-custody an amount smaller than the average on-chain fee.
