Will isn't an idiot, so he made a work-around for it, early on, to keep nostr db from being slow, but the protocol itself should define this. Extremely basic thing "tell me what you have".

He checks through the eventIDs before parsing anything, which is rather fast. But, c'mon, that's clearly a patch, and not a feature.
