They’ve basically called him a liar and fired him.
The abruptness of it is shocking for such an upward company. Having led a tiny AI company myself from 2016-22…
The only thing I can think of is maybe they used training data without securing rights to use it? Thus invalidating their ownership of their own models. 🤣
eg someone is suing them, sama assured all was OK, but legal advice subsequently disagreed.

Not really, he would be guilty as hell.
For context I spent 15 months negotiating with world class corporate lawyers of my $300billion market cap clients for;
1). Permission to hold their sensitive data
2). Permission to train neural nets with their data
3). Permission to own those neural nets
4). Permission to sell services built on those neural nets back to them
In the end they agreed, but I was forced to agree that we would never sell a controlling stake to anyone in the industry. Had to promise our company would not enter a number of markets.
Learnt a hell of a lot during all those talks.
