I planted four trees before the rains started coming. I have a Granny Smith apple, Red Delicious apple, and two Red Haven peaches. My goal is to plant 4-5 fruit/nut trees a year for the next 5 years. I think I have to put cages around them so the bastard deer don't eat them up.

What sort of berries do you suggest other than cherries. Plan on doing plum and pears also.
Blueberries, raspberries & blackberries are awesome for continuous berry picking. Elderberries & currants if you make any sort of booze as they add a depth to flavor. Strawberries if you have a regular garden.
