Follow counts (downloading follow lists to and from the user in question) can easily occupy 150MB of memory by themselves alone. Then add all the zaps and the situation gets worse. It's very heavy. I am working on a local database to simplify this but it's taking it's time.
It does speed up after sending to background. Maybe that follower count is taking up too much space?

maybe nostrdb would work? It's written in c
It could load those tabs when those tabs are clicked?
It could load the counts from a primal.net cache instance?
Agree.
As it's right now, sometimes I'm afraid to visit some profiles that I know have a lot of followers because Amethyst becomes too slow if I do it.
One unforeseen effect of doing the MediaPlayback in the background is that now when you kill the app via swiping up, it doesn't actually kill it anymore. The objects that were in memory are still there. The only way is to open Settings/Apps and Force Stop it there. :(
