I know people who lived through the fall of communism. Grew up hearing stories about it. I think it had an effect on my developing psyche. Hell I know people in countries where they’ve had relatives just disappeared.

Well there weren't so many control cameras and digital trakers and such things then.

People are doing those acts and many more couragious actions with great risks and consequences.
