Why not a no frills node?

But no, let's cram all sorts of stuff and options in a weak OS and market it well to Bitcoiners.

Whatever happened to keeping it simple?

Haha I can’t say anything. I’m running umbrel

I will admit that I was surprised at the interface that Monero has for its node. Downloaded it for Linux, and away we synched. Took a month and a half though!

A month and a half? What hardware are you using? Mine synced in 24h but I’m running an old office SFF tower.

Fast! My xmr node is running in a generic laptop. Nothing special.

Pro tip. You can buy an old HP or Dell office workhorse from eBay for $50-$80. Makes a fantastic home server if all you are doing is a couple of nodes and file storage.

Thanks for that!

I have a 15 year old HP with an old gen i5. I threw a good 2TB SSD in it and it is running a bitcoin node, a monero node, a lightning node, a snowflake proxy, robosats, and Nextcloud without missing a beat.

RESPECT 😀!!

StartOS isn't a simple node package

Its designed to be a home server.

This is true. My experience was that both umbrel and start 9 are subpar user experience. Bloat ware.

Go play with your cats Rex

All good node!
