you're precisely right - continuous war is the worst - that is essentially what most dissidents are advocating for now - simply allow the stalemate between Iran and Israel to continue forever like the one between Russia and Ukraine. this is dumb.

for the war to end one side must win. i don't care which side it is. either Israel or Iran must be destroyed. i would prefer it if Israel was destroyed but that won't happen so may as well destroy Iran instead to end the war.

de-escalation and diplomacy is the worst possible scenario because it accomplishes nothing - just prolongs the agony.
