Any of the hardware wallets that support #bitcoin AND the rest of the crypto mess seem more likely to get compromised, focusing on bitcoin-only hardware wallets and companies is a safer bet

Because ledger has fucked up quite a few times already.

They got hacked, leading to leak a massive amount of data of their customers (physical adresses, e-mail adresses,…)

They also claim that the seed phrase never leaves their device, though they would be able to help you recover your funds by splitting up an encrypted version of your seed phrase and sharing that with two other partners.

Don’t get me wrong, Ledger is (was) a good company for storing digital assets… great UI, ease of use for newbies.

but yeah, they kinda fucked up

Something about seed recovery.

But my beef is that my Ledger wallet died after about a year, so I replaced it with a coldcard.

Ledger’s code is closed source so you have know way of knowing if there’s a back door. You have to trust what they tell you. Most other hardware wallets are open source so any back doors would be immediately spotted and broadcasted to the community

Thanks for the replies. Very helpful info, I did not know about the seed phrase thing.
