Lolol bitcoin tourettes syndrome.

I find it quite depressing really lol. Nostr seems amazing and the people who also think it's amazing are a (maybe a small) factor amongst many larger factors and challenges in this huge mountain it has to climb of adoption. And I don't want to poopoo too much on them. Honestly I don't lol. Their intentions are good, but very few people will stay for it, they would just join the orange pill telegram group if they wanted that.

How many people even stayed from the Matt Taibbi wave of noobs? For eg?

I don't think I'm being v clear, but I think I may have made my point here somewhere in a roundabout way lol

gotta follow more ppl maybe.

my feed is usually 90% mostr/zerohedge/nostr devs chat/other dumb bot accs i like + 10% bitcoin

Yeah I get this, and I know to take nostrnss it comes, and can probably sort out a better feed lol. But as for recommending it to someone, not sure it works. Would you recommend nostr to someone who wasn't familiar with bitcoin twitter?

Also the actual inner workings and dev chat is actually interesting content imo and significant as content to a wider audience. Even a lil silly nondev cat like me, who understand about 10% of what is even being said. I'm more thinking of the bitcoin infographic-ism /infotainment and platitudes.

And if you're navigating someone to follow mostr, at some point isn't that a funnel for them to just join mastodon lol?

I'm sort of thinking of the people I know who are far from 'normies', some own or don't own bitcoin, but they're not interested in the slogans and educational memes either ways lol

They'll end up on BlueSky tbh

Lists. This is why people like us need to be building lists of people doing cool shit, it's great for onboarding new folks.

Yes, I agree, lists. Hashtags are important. Maybe in the future, groups too. A client with a heavy leaning on lists would be good. I like primal a lot, but their trending data is somewhat worthless in the scenario I'm thinking of

https://zappedit.com

Has an interesting take on this, with feed primarily curated by followed hashtags, and allowing reddit style up/down zaps. You can set it so down zaps go wherever you choose. So a charity or a friend maybe.

Yes I had a look at that, looks cool

Give it time lots of bitcoin talk on here but the growth of art food music etc can already be seen thats my opinion at least all though mutelist for specific words would probally be a better tool than a full client

Yeah your argument is a valid one I think, but as long as Nostr is decentralised , it will naturally begin to be more respresentative of it's user base.

This stuff is early days , it's a decentralised social layer that uses public/private keypairs so naturally all the Bitcoiners are on it like flies on shite.

Piece by piece, as more and more people hop on the bus, it'll become a melting pot.

I think, to use a non bitcoin platitude lol, content is king lol they'll most likely not hop on in these early days. I think I'm tiptoeing around the 'network effect' theory really in all this... And I'm not clever enough to understand it

Growth on alt tech platforms is incremental. People will sign up after some outrage on Twitter, talk for a bit about how great it is, then most of them fuck off back to Twitter once the outrage dies down. A few from each wave stay though. There needs to be a broader culture here though - no doubt about it.

I like Bitcoin but it's no substitute for having a personality and I must admit I find the mindless optimism of the orange pill crowd grating because it's the same techno-utopianism that's been the curse of the internet since the beginning - some piece of code has arrived to save us all and we can just sit back and let it do it's thing - and this time we get to be rich! It's childish, and meanwhile we're all slipping further and further into serfdom every day while Bitcoin has fixed precisely nothing.

There is a bit of a huge big fat alt coming through tho in the shape of BlueSky which will eat a lot of that movement maybe? Even tho it may suffer the same problems as what theyre leaving, that will be a concern for another day. The primary concern is content chasing.

I think what nostr has going for it tho, in an optimistic twist to this thought lol... Is it might come up with a killer app outside of this twitter format. Maybe something like the highlighter or a marketplace or gambling or whatever it is. Which may in turn bring people to this aspect of nostr I'm currently typing in. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You're 100% right on the killer app front. The last thing we need is another Twitter and the decentralized protocol we know as Notes and Other Stuff Transmitted by Relays will remain extremely niche until someone comes up with something new.
