The war on cash is very real even in Germany but at least here, people have a strong habit to pay with cash so it's the merchants that get the control imposed. I talked to several merchants that told me their cashier systems are connected to the tax authorities and they cannot risk taking Bitcoin without putting the right amount of cash into their counter.
