How big do they get in comparison?

Maybe 6-8 inches long. The ones that grew feral were smaller at about 3-4 inches.
After some investigation I find that the mouse melon that Franny has pictured is Melothria scabra.
The plant I had mentioned as a feral, in South East Asia at least, is Solena amplexicaulis which seems very similar as an edible mini cucumber type plant. Coccinia grandis is also a small gourd type vegetable that is used for food but is bitter to taste. The plant that I showed in my photo is as far as I can find a Trichosanthes species. Perhaps Trichosanthes anguina and harvested before the gourd grows too long.
That’s very interesting. I have an Internet friend that told me about them. I’ll ask about his seeds.
