Put our big boar in the freezer this weekend. Was a little too much to handle getting hooked onto the scale so I took a measurement and he came in at 446 lbs.

I’ve found that this method is pretty accurate. For those that don’t know:

- measure the girth around the heart

- measure the length from base of the ears to tail.

- estimated weight = (Girth x girth x length) / 400

Oh and pigs yield about 60% meat
