ESCALATING TENSIONS IN THE TAIWAN STRAIT_THE IMPACT OF CHINA'S "JOINT SWORD-2024A" MILITARY DRILLS AND TAIWAN'S RIGHT TO SELF-DEFENSE

The ongoing tension between China and Taiwan has taken a new turn following the inauguration of Taiwan President William Lai on April 23, 2024. In response, China conducted military drills in the vicinity of Taiwan known as "Joint Sword-2024A."[^1] However, this exercise did not materialize as planned[^2] and was followed by recent developments that have heightened concerns over an imminent military conflict.

On June 7, 2024, Minister of National Defense Wellington Koo announced that the Taiwanese military would be ordered to exercise its right to self-defense if China attacks Taiwan or its outlying islands, or enters their territorial airspace and waters without permission within 12 nautical miles[^3].

This development comes amidst growing fears that the situation could escalate into a full-blown military confrontation. According to some experts, China might conduct more "Joint Sword" drills in response to Taiwan's actions[^2]. This could lead to increased tensions and instability in the region.

Moreover, former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd warned that a war over Taiwan would have significant global consequences, making the world "a radically different place"[^4]. The escalation of the Taiwan Strait crisis might also provide an opportunity for more players to join the fray. For instance, the US has repeatedly stated that it would come to the aid of its ally[^5], while Japan has indicated that it would do the same[^6].

From a number perspective, the declaration by Wellington Koo was made on June 6, 2024[^3]. This date is equivalent to 6/6 or 6 which is the reverse reduction cipher of the military drill "Joint Sword".

"Joint Sword" has a value of 60 in the reverse reduction cipher. 60 is equivalent to 6 since 0 has no representation in gematria. Through twinning, 6 corresponds to 66 or the 6th of June

Few things are to be noted:

Both statements were made on the same day: one that could escalate the tension between China and Taiwan and one suggesting an outcome, bad for the world.

June 6 is equivalent to 6/6 or 66 which represents, in gematria, the value of the "Number of the Beast".

Since the "Joint Sword" script seems to be still in use regarding the Taiwan strait crisis, only the next move from China will reveal whether or not the new military drill "Joint Sword-2024A" should be considered seriously, from a number perspective. And that next move should come on June 9, 2024.

The actions of top Taiwanese government officials may raise questions about their loyalty, as the timing of their declaration are suspicions they are adhering to a predetermined script orchestrated by the Chinese military.

The situation in the Taiwan Strait is becoming increasingly volatile. While China continues to conduct military drills around Taiwan, the latter has signaled its readiness to exercise its right to self-defense. The potential for a larger conflict cannot be ruled out, as other global powers could also get involved, further complicating an already complex situation.
