you can do it on raspberrypie or on old laptop or computer,

i run one with umbrel on 10 year old laptop with i5 first generation , 8gb ram and 2tb ssd.

usually if you run a bitcoin node to help the network, it is already on 24/7, so it just makes sense to run a lightning one too,

there are also services that do it for you, like getalby.com and voltage.cloud.
