Thanks. Also when I remove every relay of every type somehow I can still send NIP17 DMs.

And when I add just one relay of my own then DMs get sent but they don't show at all in that one relay's database.

I guess there is a DM relay hardcoded into the app and it always defaults to that one?

In 0xchat, a NIP-17 DM will try to send to the recipient’s DM relay first. If none is available, it will try the inbox relay. If that also fails, the message won’t be sent.

Ah, got it, I thought it was similar to NIP4 DMs where it just goes to your write relays. Makes sense now.
