Love 5x5 training and followed a program very similar to SS for a long time, but this idea that you should drink 2,000 calories of milk a day is pretty silly honestly.

In this context Rip was talking about little guys early in the progression. Once you are strong, becoming lean and maintaining is a fine goal (imho).
